Ode to my mommy

My mom is the absolute best mom in the world! I know everybody thinks this about their mom, but in my case it is really true. I cannot express in words just how grateful I am for everything she has done for me. Especially these last few weeks. My mom has been incredibly supportive of my pregnancy from the get-go. She made sure I ate well, drank enough fluids, she bought special juices for me, made sure I rested enough and kept me sane when baby Henry wanted to be late. Then there was the birth. I knew I wanted my mom in the delivery room with me because I knew she would be able to help me through. I had no idea just how much I would need her until that day came. I thank God everyday that she was there for me. It was a very emotional and difficult process and she talked me through it and made sure I knew I was doing really well and that I was doing the very best I could for my baby. When it came time for the C-section, my mom helped me understand that it was not my fault and that I was doing what was right for my baby. My mom had four regular deliveries and one C-section so she knew just what I was in store for. She, unfortunately, could not be in the room with me when I had the surgery but she had an important job, nonetheless. James had decided a while back, when we had thought I needed a C-section because Henry was breech, that he wanted to stay in the OR while they finished sewing me up. So my mom was the one who got to spend the first few minutes with Henry back in the recovery room. I was glad that I could have James with me and know that Henry was not alone and was being loved and cared for by his grandma. They got to bond and spend some time together before James and I got back to the room. After the trauma of that day, James and I tried to sleep while my mom went home and took care of Daisy. Then the next few days she came to the hospital and brought me Jamba Juice, held Henry while I slept and even helped me take a shower. When we got discharged from the hospital, my mom spent an entire week at home with me, helping me heal and take care of Henry. I could not have asked for more! She did laundry, washed dishes, filled bottles, got up with Henry in the morning so I could sleep, told me EVERY day how good I was doing on my recovery and what a good mom I was, even when I was crying and felt terrible. I cannot even begin to find the word to thank my mom for everything she has done. I honestly have NO idea what I would have done without her. She is amazingly generous and honestly the best grandma I ever could have hoped for for my baby boy.

Henry loves you, grandma! And I love you sooooooooo much!!!
