More baby pics!

Today we had a follow-up ultrasound to check on baby boy's growth. My Dr. keeps telling me how tiny my uterus is so she wanted to make sure that the baby was growing properly for his gestational age. I wasn't too worried ;) So we got another glimpse of our baby boy and he is perfect! He's growing well for his age and is about 2 lbs 10 oz! And I think, he's pretty darn cute! As the tech was measuring every little body part she casually says, oh and your baby is breech. Wait, what?! From what she could see, our little boy is head up, butt down with his little legs up OVER his head! She said it's not a problem right now, they don't start worrying about the baby's position until 37 weeks and since I'm only 28 weeks, he still has time to move. Even though she said it's not a big deal, I am a little worried about what will happen if he doesn't move. However, our little boy is healthy and growing. If the only thing I have to deal with is how he's going to get out, I'm ok with that! I may end up having to have a c-section if he settles into this position for the long run, but I can handle that if that is what my little boy needs. Here are some amazing pics of our baby boy :)

Here is his profile, with an arm or leg right by his face.
Another profile shot with arms and legs, he's quite a flexible little guy!
Here is a face on look at baby boy with his leg up. The tech said he's not bashful about showing his bits at all!! ;)
Now the next time we'll see our little boy, will be on his birthday :) And I can't wait to meet him!!!

Then and Now

Times sure have changed. I know I've blogged about this before, during New Year's. That was about me and James. This is more about me and my friends. During my methods year of college, I met some awesome people! I had some amazing teachers and lucky for me, I met some of my best friends. We bonded over lesson plans and crazy nights, and boy were there some CRAZY nights! We've stayed close since graduation and now we are ALL pregnant! I've been blessed to never do things alone in my life and pregnancy is one of them. Not only were both my sisters-in-law pregnant with me but so are two of my best friends! Victoria moved away over two years ago and I haven't seen her since my wedding! She is due two days after me!!! She came back for a visit because, well, it will be quite difficult to travel come May ;) I was so happy to see her! It's been too long and since she's due so close to me, it was fun to catch up and compare bellies! After we had some very nice people at Starbucks take our pictures, I started thinking about some of the other pictures we've taken throughout our friendship. So I went through my old photo albums and found some old pics waaay too fun not to share. So here's a look at how things were about seven years ago and how things are now. The old pics are a bit grainy because I had to take pictures of the old pictures but you can get the idea. Enjoy and try not to judge to harshly! :)

Me and Victoria at some random party, we had a blast apparently!
Me and Victoria now. Both about 27 weeks pregnant! Perhaps a bit bigger but still cute :)
Me, Jenn and Victoria, one Halloween we decided to go as Charlie's Angels ;)
Me, Jenn and Victoria now. Jenn is about 18 weeks pregnant :)
Three cute girls at a party, please check out my awesome flat tummy. It will be that way again some day... I hope.
Three still cute girls at Starbucks, not a flat belly to be found, but all very happy for our round bellies full of baby :)
So things now are totally different but as the old Arby's commercials used to say... different is GOOD!!! Yes, I had tons of fun back then and I'm glad I did! I got all my craziness out and now I'm so very happy to be pregnant and starting a new phase of my life. I can't wait to meet our little guy and I can't wait to be a mom :) Jeez, can you believe the crazy girl in those pictures is going to be someone's MOM?!? Here's hoping all my life experiences will make me a great mom!

Hiking

James and I used to go hiking a lot. Daisy LOVED to go up in the mountains and smell all the new smells. We haven't been since I first found out I was pregnant. I was just too tired and recently, it's been a challenge to walk on level ground so I was afraid I couldn't handle an incline! But James wanted to go up and see the snow and it seemed like this might be our last chance since it's warming up now, yippee! Now let me define "hiking" for those of you who don't know me too well. I'm so NOT a nature girl. James loves camping and all that crap but not me. So when we go hiking, it's about twenty to thirty minutes of walking up the path until I get tired and want to go home. I figured this time would be even quicker due to my increasing size and decreasing ability to walk! I have to say I was very proud of myself! We hiked our usual path and I even crossed the running river a few times, granted it was slow and tricky but I did it! I even lasted a good thirty minutes, maybe more! We walked slow enough that I was able to handle it... but the reason we left was because, I had to use the facilities and I'm not about to squat in the woods! I would probably topple over!!! Here are some fun pics of our trip.

Me and Daisy, check out the snow! I was not very prepared and only took a little sweater! It wasn't too bad though.
James being cute, it was v-day after all!
Had to reciprocate!
We love our first baby!
Didn't want to leave out the newest member of our family! Can't wait to meet him! Looks like the name is out there in the universe, we like it so don't knock it!!!
Our effort at a family portrait, hard to do but James balanced the camera on a rock and here we are! Not too bad :)
Me and Daisy again. Kinda looks like I'm smuggling a basketball, huh?
My 27 week belly pic!
I went to bed pretty early that night! It was exhausting!

Bowling and the dreaded glucose test

Last weekend, we were supposed to go to the Moon with James's friend but those plans fell through. To be completely honest, I was a little glad. I mean, I was excited to go out since it had been a while but the last time we went out it was very draining. So I was all prepared for spending an evening at home in my pj's when... Amy mentioned bowling! I hadn't been bowling in a while and I really wanted to go but I was skeptical. Was I even supposed to go bowling? Lucky for me, there's google, web md and numerous other sites that let me know it was ok! I made sure to get the lightest ball I could and I drank lots of water. We had so much fun! We bowled three full games and half of another before closing time. Yes, I stayed till closing time! I did have to have a few people bowl for me during the last game because I was getting so tired, but I felt good that I did so well! Here we all are at the fabulous Tucson Bowl.

L to R: Noah, Ashley, James, me, Mike, Amy, Joey and Chrissy.
Here's James taking his anger out on the pins, he did really well!
Here's me trying not to hurt myself throwing my cute pink ball ;)
Today I had my Dr visit with the fun glucose tolerance test. If you remember from a post I did a while back, my mom did not have a great experience with this test so I was slightly nervous. I got the orange flavor which tasted like very, very sweet Sunkist orange soda. I chugged it down and waited. Baby boy sure LOVED it!!! When the Dr was listening for the heartbeat he was moving all around and kicked the Dr! It was pretty funny :) Now I just wait and see what the blood test shows. Hopefully I won't have to go back and do the three hour test! On a side note, I can't wait for this week to be over. I have 15 parent/teacher conferences tomorrow which means I'll be at school from 7 to 7, ugh! Then, I'm taking a mental health day! Well sort of. My sister-in-law is scheduled to have her baby Friday! I'm taking the day off to help out in any way I can. I'm excited to meet my new little nephew! :)

On a more positive note...

So my last post was rather negative. In an effort to put some balance on the blog, I thought I'd do a positive posting about the nice things that friends/co-workers/strangers have done for me since I've been pregnant.

Dear world,
Thank you for letting me go first when you see me in line for the bathroom! It's hard to wait these days ;)
And thank you for watching my class while I run to the bathroom fifteen times during the day.
Thank you for telling me that I am still skinny, just with a little baby bump hiding it!
Thank you for telling me that pregnancy agrees with me and how pretty I look with the pregnant glow.
Thank you for asking if you can touch my belly, sometimes it's fine, other times it's slightly annoying, so thanks for asking :)
Thank you for telling me that whatever I want to eat is just fine! Frozen waffles for dinner are pretty yummy!
Thank you for the advice I DO ask for.
Thank you for maternity clothes, baby clothes, etc...
Thank you for not scaring me with labor stories or awful baby stories.
Thank you for making me feel better about labor and letting me know that you think I'd be a great mom!
Thank you for still inviting me to do things, I'm not home-bound yet! :)
Thank you for all the help with crazy pregnancy symptoms.
Thank you for understanding when I'm tired, cranky, forgetful, moody, etc...

There, hopefully now I sound a bit more thankful for all the nice things people have done. I'm hoping that the nice things will out-run the mean, annoying stuff soon! Now whenever someone says something to annoy or piss me off, I can read this list and remember there are some really wonderful people out there who are sweet and caring :)

There are some things I need to get off my chest...

or belly as the case may be! Being pregnant brings out a whole host of questions from not only well-meaning friends but also co-workers and my personal favorite, random strangers! So, I know that people who read this blog are not the people I am directing this to, but I need to vent and this seemed like a better place to do it than a crowded grocery store! ;) So here goes...

Dear world,
Yes, I am pregnant.
I am about 25 weeks.
I am due May 20th.
Yes, I had morning sickness but I am ok now.
No, I don't need you to carry/lift/pick up anything for me, I'm pregnant, not broken.
Yes, I am coming back to work.
Yes, we DO have someone to watch the baby, it will be my little sister Emily.
NO, I am NOT planning on breast-feeding.
NO, I do NOT want to hear your opinions on this topic, it's my choice, I've made it and you can't change my mind about it.
Yes, I have a good Dr.
Yes, I am delivering at TMC.
Yes, we know the sex.
We are having a boy!
Yes, we have names picked out.
No, I don't really feel like telling you our name choices, because again, I don't feel like hearing your opinions!
Yes, James is excited to have a boy, but guess what... so am I!
No, I REALLY don't want to hear about YOUR labor experiences! I'm scared enough already!

Now if I could just print all this out and put it on my big giant tummy, maybe I wouldn't be so tired by the end of the day ;) Here is a new belly pic for week 25.

Doesn't look too much bigger...
but it sure FEELS bigger!
Now I feel better :) Thanks for letting me vent!

** Side note: After I posted this, I went to have coffee at Starbucks with my friend Jenn. I got there a bit early so I started grading some papers I had brought. I was sitting on one of those nice soft chairs and there was an empty one next to me. So this old man, comes up and asks if anyone is sitting in the chair. I told him I was expecting my friend soon. He takes this to mean, please sit down. Ok that's fine, I'll just move once Jenn comes. So he begins talking to me by saying congratulations, I see you're pregnant. Ugh, here we go. How ironic that I just blogged about this and here we have a prime example. THEN he asks if it's a boy or a girl. I tell him it's a boy! He says, ugh, I can't BELIEVE you KNOW! It should be a blessed event when you find out, it should be a surprise!!!! He was really kind of nasty about it so I was probably a bit rude to him back and said, it is STILL a blessed event and I WAS surprised when I found out! THEN he asks about names. At this point, I'm pissed and don't feel like hearing his thoughts on this either. So I tell him we're still thinking about it. After that, he goes on a tirade about the Toyota recall for some reason, not necessary to go in to that, suffice to say, he was rude about that as well because I drive a Toyota! Anyway, luckily at that point Jenn showed up and saved me! THANK YOU JENN! So there you have a perfect example of the crap I deal with on a regular basis. I'm just glad he didn't start talking about breast feeding!!!! ;)

Quick question...

Where are you going with all that food?!?!? A week-long excursion to the wilderness??? Nope it's just an average day at work. And yes, I need ALL this food to keep me sane and un-cranky at work. Trust me, if I go more than say, two hours without at least a snack, I get super cranky. So here we have everything I need for the day: hot chocolate with calcium, OJ with calcium, V8, water, yogurt, peanut bars, cereal bars, bananas, apple, pears, and a frozen lunch. That last one could be a bit healthier but it's not too bad. I just felt like this needed a picture this morning as I was pulling all this food out of my bag, it was slightly comical :) Gotta go, time to eat some more!
